Juventus captain Manuel Locatelli insisted that the Turin giants “are better than this” after a 1-2 defeat to Napoli left them seventh in the Serie A standings.
“The coach asked us to keep the ball to create superiority in the midfield, but they pressured us and we made mistakes that we shouldn't have made”, Locatelli told DAZN Italia.
“We are aware of the position we are in and that we have to do better because we are better than what we are showing”, he added the midfielder.
„We have to win points. In the end, words don't matter much. It's about the results“, he added.
Manuel Locatelli was asked how he was experiencing this moment for the „bianconeri“, who are led by their third coach in the last two seasons after the dismissals of Thiago Motta and Igor Tudor.
„With the responsibility that a captain should have. I'm trying to set an example and explain why we lost today, although in the end what matters is what happens on the pitch“, the footballer replied.
