FIFA hands out over $700 million to 2026 World Cup participants

Each team participating in the 2026 World Cup is guaranteed to receive at least $10.5 million, Topsport reported.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reports that the FIFA Council has allocated a record $727 million for the 2026 World Cup - a 50% increase compared to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The amount will be distributed among the participating member associations, with $655 million making up the tournament's prize fund.

The winner of the 2026 World Cup will receive a prize fund of $50 million, while the runner-up will receive $33 million. The bronze medalist will earn $29 million, while the fourth-place team will receive $27 million. The quarter-finalists will each receive $19 million, the round of 16 participants will receive $15 million, and those who reach the round of 16 will each receive $11 million. Teams eliminated in the group stage will each receive $9 million.

In addition, each participant in the 2026 World Cup will receive $1.5 million to cover their preparation costs. This means that each association will receive at least $10.5 million for participating in the tournament.
