Bayern Munich defeated Heidenheim and restored its lead

Bayern Munich restored its nine-point lead at the top of the German football championship standings with a 4-0 victory over second-to-last Heidenheim. The Bavarians finished the calendar year with 13 wins, two draws and 41 points, while Borussia Dortmund remains second with 32, BTA reported.

Josip Stanic gave Bayern the lead after 15 minutes of play, after Jonathan Ta turned in Michael Oliseh's cross from a corner kick. Oliseh in the 32nd minute and Luis Diaz in the 86th were also accurate for the Bavarians, and Harry Kane shaped the final result in added time. The Englishman thus reached the 100-goal and assist mark for Bayern.

After this match, the Bundesliga goes into a winter break, with the first round of the spring season starting on January 9.

Earlier in the day, Mainz, who secured a place in the top 16 of the Conference League during the week, drew 0-0 with St. Pauli to remain in last place. Mainz has eight points, Heidenheim has 11 and St. Pauli has 12.
