The Levante team achieved a strong-willed victory over Elche 3:2, after Alan Romero Maturo scored the decisive goal in the 6th minute of added time and restored his teammates' chances of getting out of the relegation zone, BTA reported.

After this first match of the 21st round of the Spanish Primera Division, Levante already has 17 points in the penultimate 19th place, but only three behind the 17th and first in the salvation zone team of Valencia. Elche are in 8th place with 24 points and have now lost four games.

Levante entered the match as the only team in La Liga yet to win at home since the start of the season, and that trend looked set to continue after the visitors opened the scoring in the 11th minute through Alvaro Rodriguez.

But five minutes into the second half, Pablo Martinez equalised with a beautiful, low shot from a pass from Jeremy Tollan. Adrian de la Fuente put the hosts ahead in the 68th minute, when Martinez added an assist to his goal.

Strangely enough, Elche took the initiative after the 75th minute and began to look for an equaliser. This happened in the 2nd minute of the 7th minute added by the referee, when Adam Boyar received a convenient ball and scored with a back scissors.

A draw seemed like the most likely outcome of the match until the 96th minute, when Alan Maturo jumped highest on a cross from a corner kick and headed in to start the frenzied joy of the fans at the “Ciudad de Valencia“ stadium.

Thus Levante collects 7 points from 4 matches since Luis Castro replaced Julián Calero as coach in the days before Christmas.
