Bayern Munich suffered its first defeat of the season in the Bundesliga, after losing 1:2 at home to Augsburg in the Bavarian derby of the 19th round. Vincent Kompany's team had control of the match, but a gross goalkeeping error and a hesitant defensive play at the end allowed the guests to leave with the three points. Despite the loss, Munich remains the leader in the standings with 50 points, while Augsburg climbed to 13th position, Gong.bg reported.
The match started according to plan for the hosts, who took the lead in the 23rd minute. Hiroki Ito rose in the penalty area and with a precise header turned Michael Oliseh's cross from a corner into a goal. Bayern continued to press, but away goalkeeper Finn Damen made a key save against Luis Diaz and Harry Kane had a shot blocked just before the break. The Bavarians seemed to be on the verge of another success, before events on the pitch turned in the final quarter of the match.
The turnaround began in the 75th minute, when goalkeeper Jonas Urbig drooped a cross from a corner kick and allowed Artur Chavez to head home the equaliser. The goal inspired Manuel Baum's men and just six minutes later Han-noa Masengo silenced the stands, finishing off a cross from Giannulis to make it 1-2. In added time, Michael Oliseh hit the post, but that was all the leaders could manage. Thus, Augsburg crowned themselves as the "Master of Bavaria", ending the impressive run of the Munich giants.
