Sarah Schleper and her son Lasse Gaghiola made history at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. They became the first mother and son to compete in the same Winter Olympics.

Schleper, who will be competing for Mexico and will turn 47 on February 19, has already set another record - she has become the oldest alpine skier at the Olympics. A few days ago, she finished 26th in the super-G slalom at the Olympia delle Tofane in Cortina d'Ampezzo.

With her participation in Italy, Schleper also became the first alpine skier to compete in seven Olympic Games - 1998, 2002, 2006 and 2010 for the USA, and 2018, 2022 and 2026 for Mexico. Her best finish remains tenth in the slalom at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.

18-year-old Lasse Gaghiola also made his debut on the big stage, starting in the men's giant slalom on the “Stelvio“ course in Bormio. In the first run, he posted a time of 56th, 13.31 seconds behind leader Lucas Pinheiro Broten (Brazil).
