One of the most beloved Bulgarian volleyball players - Teodor Salparov, will end his brilliant career with a grandiose benefit, the organizers of the match announced.

"His departure from the big stage after 20 years in professional sports promises to be remembered for a long time.

Salparov has always been among the audience's favorites and now he wants to return the gesture - with an event that will be unique in Bulgaria and which will mark the path of the No. 13 in world volleyball in an unforgettable way.

Theodor Salparov was born on August 16, 1982 in Gabrovo. His sporting spirit is inherited - his mother Todorka Simeonova is also a volleyball player. He began training volleyball at CSKA in 1995 under Stefan Hristov, and took his first professional steps with the "reds" under the leadership of Alexander Popov.

Russia is his first home abroad and the country in which he recorded his greatest club successes. He played for Luch (Moscow), Gazprom (Surgut), Dynamo (Moscow) and Zenit (Kazan). It was with the latter team that he won a historic quadruple (Russian Championship and Cup, Champions League and Club World Championship) in 2017. In the previous two seasons (2015 and 2016), Zenit and Salparov were again dominant in the country's Super League, Champions League and Russian Cup, and added silver in the Club World Championship. He returned to Bulgaria for two titles with Neftohimik in 2018 and 2019, and played his last matches with the Hebar team (Pazardzhik).

Salparov is part of the golden generation of the national team, which reached the bronze medals at the World Championship (2006) and the World Cup (2007) in Japan, as well as at the European Championship in Turkey in 2009. Participant in two Olympics - Beijing (2008) and London (2012), where our team finished in fourth place. He played in the semifinals of the World League in 2004, 2006, 2012, 2013, as well as the European Championships in 2013 and 2015.
