The XXV Winter Olympic Games in Cortina-Milano 2026 end today and will be closed with a special ceremony in Verona, BTA reported.

„Arena di Verona“ - a Roman amphitheater with a history of over 2000 years, will host the emotional spectacle, which will be broadcast around the world. The grand finale of the Games will intertwine music, art and the pure spirit of sport, celebrating unity. This event will pay tribute to all participants before the traditional handover ceremony to France, honoring the achievements and connections forged during the Games, while also looking to the future of the Olympic Movement.

Five sets of medals will be awarded on the final day, after the freestyle halfpipe event was moved from Saturday to Sunday due to heavy snowfall. The remaining four finals are the women's 50-kilometer cross-country skiing classic, women's curling, men's four-man bobsleigh and the men's ice hockey final between Canada and the United States.

There will be no Bulgarian participation on the last day.

Bulgarian athletes recorded the country's second most successful Winter Olympics in history in terms of number of medals won at the Games in Milano-Cortina 2026. Snowboarder Tervel Zamfirov and biathlete Lora Hristova earned bronze medals, and domestic athletes made four more top-10 finishes in individual disciplines.
