Alexis Mc Allister scored in the seventh minute of added time and Liverpool came to a difficult 1-0 victory as a guest of Nottingham Forest in a match from the 27th round of the English football championship. Thus, the Merseysiders tied with Chelsea and Manchester United in fourth place with 45 points each, but are behind both teams on goal difference, BTA reported.
Liverpool did not play their best game and the problems began in the warm-up, when Florian Wirtz was injured and was replaced by Curtis Jones.
The lack of creativity was visible and the Merseysiders managed only one accurate shot in 90 minutes, and its author was Jones. The drama was after the end of regular time. McAllister scored a fantastic goal and it was canceled for handball, but in the seventh minute of added time he got his revenge. Virgil van Dijk brought down a cross in front of the goal and the midfielder scored for the final 1:0.
Forest was the better team for most of the match and this applies especially to the first twenty minutes. The hosts, however, made four mistakes and never managed to score, instead conceding their 14th defeat. It leaves them two points above West Ham, who are first below the relegation zone.
There was also drama at "Selhurst Park", where Evan Gessan scored in the 90th minute and gave Crystal Palace a 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Londoners thus climbed to 13th place in the standings with 35 points and one less than Newcastle and Sunderland.
Raul Jimenez scored twice and Alex Iwobi added one as Fulham won 3-1 against Sunderland in another match on Sunday. Fulham climbed to tenth place and one ahead of their opponent today.
