"I learned from the media that Ms. Kostadinova will run for parliamentarian, I hope this shameful page in the history of the BOK will end, almost a year has passed since the BOK General Assembly, the IOC recognized me.

I hope there will be a successful outcome soon", commented Vessela Lecheva, elected as the chairwoman of the BOK, before the Footballer of the Year ceremony, which is taking place in Sofia.

There are three complaints in court that still hinder Lecheva's registration as a legitimate chairwoman - those of Belcho Goranov, Plamen Krastev and the wrestling federation.

"At the moment when the situation was resolved and Ms. Kostadinova's legal team Kostadinova proposed a solution that would unblock the situation, the IOC will make decisions regarding financing. We maintain contact with them, they have all the information about what is happening in Bulgaria", the BOC chairman also said.

Lecheva sees no point in a new General Assembly: "I see no point in a new General Assembly with pending cases and after there was already a ruling from the IOC exactly eight months ago. On May 17, they recognized the results of the General Assembly, they recognized the election of the new leadership. Four judicial panels have already determined the decisions of the General Assembly to be lawful, there is not even a legal case. Whoever is talking about a General Assembly right now, this is absolute nonsense".

Lecheva won the vote for a management mandate against Stefka Kostadinova at the General Assembly a year ago, but she has not been able to officially take office for 12 months now, because due to a series of complaints, the then-elected new leadership was not registered until the resolution of the case, on which there is still no final court opinion, BTA reported.

"This saga will have its successful end. A whole year has passed since the General Assembly was held, a saga that set a sad scenario for the Olympic movement in Bulgaria. After the resignation of Ms. Kostadinova, several complaints have already been withdrawn, so I hope that the others will also withdraw their complaints, because this was an unpleasant page for the Bulgarian Olympic movement. The complaints of the president of the Bulgarian Wrestling Federation Stanka Zlateva, former track and field athlete Plamen Krastev and former BOC Secretary General Belcho Goranov remain. The moment the situation is resolved, the IOC will make its decisions regarding funding," Vessela Lecheva told reporters.
