Two second-half headers by 21-year-old Nico O'Reilly decided the battle for the first trophy of the season in English football, after Pep Guardiola's team defeated Arsenal 2-0 in the final of the English League Cup "Carabao Cup", BTA reported.
Arsenal, a convincing leader in the Premier League and a main candidate for the title, failed to cope with the motivated City squad, which managed to win the League Cup for the ninth time.
After a goalless first half, City picked up the pace after the break and O'Reilly took advantage of a mistake by Arsenal goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga to score with a header after the hour mark. Four minutes later, O'Reilly made it 2-0 after heading in Mateusz Nunes' cross.
Arsenal went on the attack at the end and hit the post through Gabriel Jesus, but failed to score and lost their first trophy battle of the season.
