Bozhidar Saraboyukov won a bronze medal in the long jump at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Torun (Poland), BTA reported.
The Bulgarian cleared 8.31 meters and won Bulgaria's first medal at a world championship since 2012.
The graduate of coach Dimitar Karamfilov started off excellently with 8.22 meters in his first attempt, and in the second he made his best achievement in the competition, registering 8.31 meters, with which he led the provisional standings. Two weaker attempts of 8.30 meters and 8.14 followed, after which he made two fouls in his last two jumps.
The gold medal in the discipline was won by the Portuguese Gerson Balde, who recorded 8.46 meters in his last attempt - the best result in the world for the season.
Second was one of the favorites Mattia Furlani from Italy with 8.39 meters.
