Guardiola on Arsenal triumph: A special moment after two tough weeks

Fifth League Cup in 10 years – not bad, reckons Manchester City manager

Josep Guardiola, Manchester City manager, was very pleased with the trophy won in the "Carabao Cup" tournament.

"The Citizens" beat Arsenal in the final.

"What can I say? It's important to win a trophy. This is a special moment because the last two weeks have been tough. In the first 15 minutes they were suffocating us, we couldn't catch our breath. Then we won a few duels and started playing. I'm very happy because Mikel Arteta has built a practically unbeatable team", said Guardiola.

"Fifth League Cup in 10 years – "It's not bad. Every time winning trophies seems harder than the last. It's really difficult for many reasons," he added.

"When you start winning with a young team, you can keep going. I need to know the players. I need to know how they behave at certain moments. In modern football, every opponent is competitive. I think we are learning for the future and I hope next season we can do better. We are not yet a team like Arsenal or like ourselves in the past. But we have always found ways to win trophies," Pep pointed out.

"Honestly, I would like to be nine points ahead in the Premier League. Everything is in Arsenal's hands. We need time, a good rest. I am exhausted, then we will take it step by step," Guardiola added.
