World number 2 in tennis Yannick Sinner continued his confident path to the quarterfinals of the Miami tennis tournament on hard courts of the Masters 1000 series.

The Italian defeated the young American Alex Mickelsen 7:5, 7:6 (4). Sinner is aiming for the "Sunshine Double", after winning the tournament in Indian Wells two weeks ago. He did not flinch, despite the good level of the 21-year-old American and the fact that he was behind 2:5 in the second set, but won three consecutive games and was more calm in the tiebreak. "I feel like I served well in the important moments", said Sinner after the success, who made 15 aces in the match.

In the next round, Yannick Sinner will play against another American - Frances Tiafoe, who managed to win a very contested match against Frenchman Terence Atman with 6:4, 1:6, 6:4.

German Alexander Zverev also continued without a mistake, and he pulled out the match with Frenchman Kenten Alice with two tiebreaks - 7:6 (4), 7:6 (1). There was not a single break in the match, as Alice saved three break opportunities in the first set, but then gave up in the tiebreak. In the second half, Zverev missed two match points at 5:4 and the Frenchman's serve, again leading to a tiebreak, in which the German was unassailable - 7:1 after four mini-breaks.

In the quarterfinals, Zverev, who is number 4 in the world, meets Argentine Francisco Cerundolo, who after eliminating Daniil Medvedev, also dealt with Hugo Humber from France in two sets - 6:4, 6:3 in less than an hour and 20 minutes of play. The Argentine made one break in the first set and two in the second, and was flawless in the games with his serve.

American Coco Gauff qualified for the semifinals of the strong tennis tournament in Miami, after she hardly overcame Belinda Bencic from Switzerland in three sets - 6:3, 1:6, 6:3 in two hours and 15 minutes on the court.

Thus, the American, who was placed at number 4 in the tournament scheme, reaches this phase of the tournament for the first time. For the fourth consecutive match, Coco Gauff needed three sets to move forward. She even allowed a break in the third part and was behind with the score 2:3, but managed to win the next four consecutive games for the final success. "I'm proud of myself, you didn't think I'd get this far", the American commented after the match.

Coco Gauff will play in the semifinals in Miami against Czech Karolina Muchova, who defeated Victoria Mboko of Canada 7-5, 7-6 (5). Muchova had a great match with 32 winners and only 13 unforced errors against Mboko, whom she already beat in the final of the Doha UTA 1000 tournament in February.

Goff is the favorite in the semifinals because of the history between the two, with the young American having won all five of their matches, two of which were finals - in Cincinnati in 2023 and in Beijing in 2024. Coco Gauff also won against Muchova in the round of 16 at the Australian Open earlier this year.
