Bayern Munich congratulated its legendary and still active goalkeeper Manuel Neuer on his 40th birthday and called him "the greatest".
"The greatest of all time turns 40. Happy birthday, Manu!", the club said in a statement on social media.
Neuer has played for Bayern since 2011. Before that, he kept the goal for Schalke 04, as a youth player for the Gelsenkirchen club.
Neuer won a total of 31 trophies with the Bavarian team, including 12 Bundesliga titles and two Champions League trophies. With Schalke 04 he won the German Cup in the 2010-11 season.
Neuer triumphed as world champion with the German national team in 2014. Then he finished third in the voting for the "Ballon d'Or", behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
