Bulgarian international Dominik Yankov will almost certainly not take part in tomorrow's match against Indonesia. The midfielder of Lokomotiv Sofia suffered an injury during the match with the Solomon Islands, won by the “tricolors“ 10:2 in Jakarta, and was forcibly substituted. The headquarters assure that the injury is not serious, but he will be given rest as a precautionary measure, reports gong.bg.
Coach Alexander Dimitrov noted that the team is gradually getting used to the weather conditions, although the adaptation is not completely complete. He emphasized that the health of the players is a priority and therefore Yankov will not be risked. According to him, the team will try to build on the good moments from the first match and clean up the mistakes made.
Dimitrov added that the match with Indonesia has special meaning for him, as he has worked in the country. He emphasized that the team is not influenced by the FIFA ranking, but is focused on its own performance and tactical preparation. Changes in the squad are expected, and players who did not play in the previous match may get a chance.
The coach warned that Indonesia has quality players, including those from leading European championships, and expressed hope for a contested and interesting match. He added that the team is also prepared for a possible penalty shootout, in accordance with the new tournament regulations.
