The Bulgarian women's national sabre team finished in 14th place at the Fencing World Cup tournament in Tashkent. 20 teams participated in the competition, with only the leader France missing from the top ten in the world rankings, BTA reports.
The Bulgarians, consisting of Ioana Ilieva, Veronika Vasileva, Emma Neykova and Beloslava Ivanova, started directly from the second round, where the draw pitted them against the strong Italian team. The national team lost 33:45.
In the matches for the distribution of places from 9th to 16th place, the Bulgarian team first lost to Hungary with 29:45. Then they achieved a victory over Hong Kong with 45:41, but in their last match they suffered a minimal defeat against Kazakhstan with 44:45.
Thus the Bulgarian team ended its participation in 14th position in the final standings.
