Spanish champions Barcelona are looking for an option to keep defender Joao Cancelo, who is on loan at the Catalan club from Al Hilal. However, the Catalans cannot afford to buy the player on a permanent transfer, given his high salary at the Saudi club, reports Marca.
Barcelona's idea is for the player to negotiate a release from Al Hilal and then join the Catalan club on a free transfer. A new loan transfer for the Portuguese is not possible, as he has one year left on his contract.
Barcelona announced the transfer of Cancelo on loan from Al Hilal in January this year. The player has made 12 appearances for Barca in all competitions, scoring one goal and making three assists.
