Victoria Tomova qualified for the second round of the singles of the UTA 500 tennis tournament on clay in Charleston (USA) with a prize fund of 2.3 million dollars.
Bulgaria's first racket defeated the representative of the hosts Jennifer Brady 6:4, 6:3 in an hour and 28 minutes.
The 31-year-old Tomova won the first set with a single break in the third game. The Bulgarian made a turnaround from 1:2 to 4:2 in the second half, and after another breakthrough at the end closed the match.
Before this match, she also achieved two victories in the qualifiers.
The Sofia player earned 57 points for the world ranking, in which she is ranked number 169 this week.
In the second round, Victoria Tomova will play against Anna Kalinskaya (Russia), ranked number 8 and 22 in the UTA rankings.
