In the final game, the two did not allow a breakthrough and so the 21-year-old Sakellaridis took the first set, and the second went to a tiebreak. In it, the 32-year-old from Plovdiv made up for a 2:5 point deficit, saved a match point at 5:6, but at 6:7 the Greek, 225th in the ATP rankings, reached the victory on his own serve.
Kuzmanov still secured 3290 euros and 7 points for the world ranking, in which he occupies the 312th position.
Bulgaria's national player for the "Billie Jean King Cup" Lidiya Encheva qualified for the second round of the main draw singles of the hard court tournament in Nantes (France) with a prize fund of 40 thousand dollars.
19-year-old Encheva defeated Mina Hodzic (Germany) 6:3, 6:4. The match lasted an hour and 35 minutes.
The Bulgarian took a 3:0 lead on the way to success in the first set. In the second half, Encheva led 5:2, with this result she missed one match point. The German managed to return two games from her deficit, but then Encheva closed the match in her favor with her second match point.
Before this match, the Bulgarian achieved two more two-set victories in the qualifications. In the second round, Encheva will play against the 21-year-old Russian Kira Pavlova, who is number 364 in the world rankings for women.
Another Bulgarian national player, Elizara Yaneva, qualified for the second round of singles yesterday, and her next opponent will be the eighth seed and number 232 in the world, Xinyu Gao (China).
