Frenchman Sebastien Ogier with Toyota topped the standings after the first day of racing at the Canary Islands Rally – the fifth round of the World Rally Championship, BTA reports.
Ogier has an 8.6-second lead over Swede Oliver Solberg after completing seven of a total of 18 special stages. In third position, 15.4 seconds behind, is Briton Elfin Evans. It is interesting to note that the top five teams in the standings are Toyotas.
General classification leader Takamoto Katsuta, who led the race after the opening stage on Thursday, is now in fifth place, 30.5 seconds behind.
The best performing driver outside of the Toyota team is Spaniard Dani Sordo with Hyundai, who is in sixth place.
