Barcelona's great talent Lamine Yamal has suffered a serious blow at the most inopportune moment, after suffering a muscle injury in the match against Celta Vigo. He is expected to miss the rest of the season, which has put his participation in the 2026 World Cup in doubt. However, coach Hansi Flick remains optimistic. According to him, the young Spaniard will be able to recover in time for the tournament and will even come back stronger.

„The situation is not easy, neither for us nor for him. It is part of the growing process. But he is extremely focused and motivated. I think he will be ready for the World Cup“, said Flick.

The injury is the first muscle in Yamal's career and occurred in the situation that led to the penalty, which he himself converted. Subsequently, the pain intensified and a forced substitution was required.

According to “SPORT” the recovery will take about six to seven weeks - a period that almost coincides with the start of the tournament. Spain's first match is against Cape Verde on June 15, which gives Yamal a real chance to be in line.

Meanwhile, the national team headquarters have assured the young star that he will be included in the World Cup squad, with the main goal remaining his full recovery.
