Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah will miss the rest of the season with a hamstring injury sustained in the 3-1 win over Crystal Palace. The news was confirmed by Egypt national team director Ibrahim Hassan.

The 33-year-old, who has already announced that he will leave the club at the end of the campaign, left the pitch in the 60th minute to applause from the crowd. Liverpool have not yet released any official information on his condition, but Hassan said it is a tear that will require around four weeks of recovery.

This means that Salah's nine-year spell at “Anfield“, filled with trophies and goals, will end without him playing again. He is expected to bid farewell to the fans after the final game of the season against Brentford.

Liverpool still have games against Manchester United, Aston Villa and Chelsea to play before the end of the campaign. Salah, who is the club's third-highest scorer, has 12 goals and nine assists in all competitions this season.

Egypt's management are confident he will be fully fit for the 2026 World Cup, where Egypt will face Belgium, New Zealand and Iran in the group stage.

Salah is determined to be fit for the tournament and avoid a repeat of 2018, when he suffered a shoulder injury in the 2018 Champions League final against Real Madrid. Despite scoring twice that time, Egypt were eliminated in the group stage.
