Kylian Mbappe is now the winner of the “Golden Boot“, which is awarded to the top scorer in European championships. This was made official after Mohamed Salah failed to catch up with him in his last match for Liverpool against Crystal Palace – 1:1, in which he was accurate once. The Real Madrid striker wins the award with 62 points after 31 goals in La Liga, BTA reported.
Salah finishes with 29 goals, which equals 58 points. Between the two is Victor Gokeres - Sporting Lisbon, who, although he has scored the most goals - 39, is second with 58.5 points.
This is because of the formula by which the points in the competition are calculated. Since the Portuguese league is rated lower than those of England and Spain, 1.5 points are awarded for each goal scored in it.
Bayern Munich's Harry Kane is fourth with 52 points (26 goals).
