Vezenkov is the Most Valuable Player in the Greek Basketball Championship for the fourth time

Only three basketball players with more awards remain ahead of the Bulgarian

Bulgarian winger Alexander Vezenkov was named the "Most Valuable Player" in the Greek Basketball Championship for the fourth time, BTA reported.

The Olympiacos leader takes the prize for the third time in the last four years, with his only miss being in the 2023/24 season, when he was part of the National Basketball Association of the USA and Canada.

During this season, which marked the Bulgarian's return to Greece, Olympiacos managed to regain the title that had become the property of the eternal rival Panathinaikos during his one-year absence. He was also named "Most Valuable Player of the Finals", in which Olympiacos won 3:1 against Panathinaikos.

Vezenkov's first "Most Valuable Player" award in the regular season was won in 2015, when he was still a teenager and playing for Aris Thessaloniki.

In the ranking for the MVP award, the national team player received 494 points from voters. His dominance was especially great in the votes of the coaches and team captains, where he collected 60 percent of it. He won first place in both the fan and journalist polls. Second after Vezenkov with 371 points is Landry Noko from the Panionios team.

"I want to thank all the coaches, captains, journalists and fans who voted for me for the MVP of the Greek League for the 2024/25 season", said Vezenkov, quoted by the Greek Basketball League website.

"Most of all, however, I want to thank my teammates, my coaches, the presidents, Messrs. Panagiotis and Giorgos Angelopoulos, the entire Olympiacos organization, because we all worked hard together and the end of the season ended very well with winning the championship. Without the help of everyone I mentioned above, I would not have been able to win this award. I wish all teams good health and that the championship next season will be even stronger and more competitive," added the 29-year-old Bulgarian.

After the fourth award for "Most Valuable Player", Vezenkov is left with only three basketball players with more awards. Dimitris Diamantidis has six awards, and Vasilis Spanoulis and Nikos Galis have five each.
