Defeats for Tomova, Donski and Nesterov in London, Brasov and Marburg

Alexander Vassilev in the juniors and Elizara Yaneva in the girls qualified for the singles finals of the ITF J300 grass tennis tournament in Roehampton

Viktoria Tomova was eliminated in doubles from the British Open Tennis Championship. The Bulgarian, who played together with Ayla Tomljanovic, lost 6:7 (6), 2:6 against the Japanese Eri Hodzumi and the Indonesian Aldila Sutjiadi in 90 minutes.

In the first part Tomova and Tomljanovic led with a break and 6:5, but then lost their serve. In the tiebreak, the Bulgarian and the Australian had a 6:0 lead, but missed six set points and retreated after a turnaround with 6:8.

The second set was dominated by Hodzumi and Sutjiadi, who won the serve of Tomova and Tomljanovic three times, ending the match from their first opportunity.

Eri Hodzumi is a finalist at "Roland Garros" in 2018 and a semifinalist at the Australian Open in 2017, while Aldila Sutjiadi has one mixed doubles semifinal at "Roland Garros", at "Wimbledon" and at the US Open.

On Wednesday, Victoria Tomova was eliminated in the second round of singles. Bulgaria's top seed lost 2:6, 2:6 to the home team's representative Sonaj Kartal.

Alexander Vassilev in the juniors and Elizara Yaneva in the girls' singles finals of the ITF J300 grass tennis tournament in Roehampton (Great Britain). The competition in Roehampton is the last one before "Wimbledon".

The 9th seed Vassilev won the quarterfinals 7:5, 6:3 against Luis Guto Miguel (Brazil). This is the fifth consecutive victory for the Bulgarian in the tournament with only one lost set.

In the title match tomorrow, Vassilev will play against Oliver Bonding (Great Britain).

In the other semifinal match, Ivan Ivanov dramatically lost 6:4, 3:6, 6:7 (3) to Oliver Bonding. Before this match, the Bulgarian tennis player recorded four consecutive victories with two lost sets.

In the Bulgarian singles semifinal for the girls, Elizara Yaneva defeated Rositsa Dencheva with 6:3, 7:6 (9). This is the fifth consecutive victory for Yaneva in the tournament with only two lost sets. In the title match, she will play against the third seeded Julieta Pareja (USA). Dencheva finished the tournament with four wins.

Later today, Alexander Vassilev will also play in the doubles semifinals. The Bulgarian and Max Schönhaus (Germany), seeded No. 4, will play for a place in the final against Britain's Connor Brady and Benjamin Gusich Wan.

Bulgaria's Davis Cup national team player Alexander Donski was eliminated in the second round of the Challenger Series clay-court tournament in the Romanian city of Brasov with a prize pool of 91,250 euros.

Donski lost 2:6, 4:6 to Francesco Maestrelli, ranked 237th in the world. The match lasted 80 minutes.

The Bulgarian started both sets poorly and this deprived him of any chance of fighting for victory. In the first game, Maestrelli led 4:0, and in the second game, 2:0, with the Italian not allowing his serve to be lost even once.

Later today, Donski will play in the doubles quarterfinals. He and Indian Siddhant Bantia will face Andrew Paulson and Michael Vrbensky from the Czech Republic.

Bulgaria's national team for the "Davis" Cup lost to the representative of the Republic of Ireland Michael Agvey 1:6, 3:6 in an hour and 34 minutes of play.

Nesterov fell behind 0:4 in the first set and managed to win only one game to 1:6, and in the second half he made up for a deficit of 0:2 to draw 3:3, but Agvey took the next three games and triumphed in the match.

The Bulgarian and Eric Vanschelboim (Ukraine) will face the Germans Tom Sickenberger and Mats Eggbring.

Nesterov recently triumphed with the doubles title at a clay tennis tournament in Klosters (Switzerland) with a prize fund of 30 thousand dollars.
