Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso will ponder until the last minute whether Kylian Mbappe should start in the quarter-final match of the Club World Cup against Borussia Dortmund tonight, BTA reports. Mbappe is suffering from gastroenteritis. The striker made his debut in the tournament on Tuesday, when Real Madrid beat Juventus 1-0, after missing the entire group stage.
"Mbappe has been improving in the last three days, commented Alonso. – In the time before the match we will decide whether he will be part of the starting 11."
Mbappe came on as a second-half substitute in the victory over Juventus (1-0), receiving thunderous applause. Xabi Alonso is relying on Gonzalo Garcia in the Frenchman's absence, and the 21-year-old Real Madrid academy graduate has already scored three goals - including Tuesday's winner - as well as an assist.
