Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova continues at “Wimbledon“ and qualified for the 10th time in her career in the 1/4 finals of the “Grand Slam” tournaments. The 34-year-old tennis player prevailed over the representative of the hosts Sonay Kartal with 7:6 (3), 6:4, but also defeated the tournament's electronic system, reports sportal.bg.

The tournament's electronic system did not register a ball out of bounds by Kartal at a key moment in the first set. At 4:4, the serving Russian, who had already reflected two break points in the game, was at a point of 5:4 and in the subsequent play, a ball by Kartal visibly went out of bounds of the court. However, the electronics remained silent and instead of the point being awarded to Pavlyuchenkova, it was replayed. This ultimately led to a breakthrough for the Briton, who also had a set point in the next game.

Pavlyuchenkova still pulled out the first set after a tiebreak. In the second part, the Russian prevailed more easily, after leading 4:2, and then 5:3 on the way to victory - 6:4. Pavlyuchenkova will argue for a place in the semifinals with the Czech Linda Noskova or the American Amanda Anisimova.
