The former world champion in light heavyweight and light heavyweight has passed away at 72

Legendary American boxer Dwight Muhammad Kawi has died at the age of 72 on July 25, FOCUS reported.

Born on January 5, 1953 in Baltimore, Maryland, but grew up in Camden, New Jersey. Even in his teenage years, he got into trouble and crimes that eventually landed him in prison for years.

It was while behind bars that Kawhi began to train in boxing, and he made his professional debut in 1978.

He won the world titles in the light heavyweight and light heavyweight divisions, and in his career he shared the ring with people like Michael Spinks, Leon Spinks, Evander Holyfield and George Foreman, among others.

He ended his career in 1998 with a record of 41 wins, 11 losses and 1 "not held" match.
