Young Bulgarian goalkeeper Plamen Andreev made his unofficial debut for Racing Santander just a day after his transfer to the Spanish club from the Segunda Division, reports “Gong”.
The Levski youth started as a starter in the friendly match against Athletic Bilbao – a participant in the upcoming edition of the Champions League – and performed excellently, keeping a clean sheet in the first half, which ended 0:0. After the break, Andreev was substituted by Joquin Esquieta.
Racing took the “Nando Iosu“ trophy after a 2:1 victory. Jorge Salinas opened the scoring in the 56th minute with a header from a corner kick, and in added time Suleiman Camara doubled the home team's lead. Shortly before the final whistle, Mikel Vesga scored the final goal.
Plamen Andreev's official debut for Racing could take place on August 16, when his team hosts Castellón in the first round of La Liga 2. The match at the “El Sardinero“ stadium starts at 18:00 Bulgarian time.
