28-year-old Japanese boxer Hiromasa Urakawa died from injuries sustained in the ring, the press service of the World Boxing Organization reported.
Urakawa died after a fight with his compatriot Yoji Saito, which took place in Tokyo. Saito won by technical knockout in the last, eighth round.
Earlier it became known about the death of another boxer from Japan - 28-year-old Shigechi Kotari, who also participated in this tournament. He underwent emergency surgery due to a subdural hematoma, but later died from his injuries.
In his career, Urakawa has 10 wins (7 by knockout) and 4 losses. In April 2024, he boxed against Kothari and won.
