Leandro Godoy was welcomed with great enthusiasm at CSKA after he was brought in from Beroe Stara Zagora. The Argentine striker brought a record transfer fee to his former club, and his official debut for the “army“ was postponed until next week, BTA reported.

“I am charged with great desire and ambition. I am hungry for big things - to become the top scorer of the championship again, to win matches. I only have victories in my head. We have a team with very good players, who have received me wonderfully. Now the period is bad, but everything will change. The players, the coaching staff and everything in the club are getting organized in the best way and I have no doubt that the situation will soon be different. Let the fans be calm. Yes, the club is very big and the expectations are huge, but we are determined to overcome the difficulties and move forward“, the Argentine striker told the club's television.

"This is a big step in my career, the best I can take. As I said in my presentation, I am already at the biggest club in Bulgaria. I am happy, I can't wait and I am ambitious to achieve the goals for the club – individually and with the team. I am enjoying the moment“, added Godoy.

The Argentine returns to his early years in football, which he did not just anywhere, but at Diego Maradona's favorite club: “I was born in Avellaneda, but I grew up in Quilmes (a neighborhood of Buenos Aires). I went through all the youth formations of Boca Juniors – I spent 7 years there, that's where I started playing. Then I moved to Berasategui, and from there later I played for Racing. We all know what kind of club Boca is. I spent 7 great years there, I was still a child. There I managed to learn a lot and grow as a footballer“.

“Football in Argentina and Bulgaria is different. I can't say that it's better or worse in one place. It's played differently in each league. I've been in the Bulgarian championship for more than two years now and I can say that the level is very good. There are teams with real class, and I have the chance to be in the biggest club in Bulgaria“, said Godoy.

He can't wait to experience the thrill of the biggest match in our country - the derby between CSKA and Levski. “Yes, this is Boca - the River of Bulgaria. Your derby is great. It has everything in it – like in any big match. People are waiting for it with euphoria, with a great desire for their favorite team to win. I am already part of one of the teams and I will enjoy the feeling“.

After winning the top scorer award last season, Leandro does not intend to lower his standards now. “I am grateful to Beroe for the great season. This is also a very important club for me and I am glad that I was able to help“, adds the striker and reveals that the most beautiful goal in his career so far is the one against Levski with the Beroe team.

And how does he accept his nickname? “They started calling me the Nightmare in Beroe. Luckily for me, everything went well, I was able to justify this nickname and now I'm used to it“.

CSKA fans are already eager to see The Nightmare in action together with Ioannis Pitas: “I'm convinced that Pitas is one of the best strikers in the championship. There's no problem playing next to each other, I'll feel great. Everyone knows that, I'm not saying anything surprising. If we partner, it will be easier for me too. Of course, the last word is the coach's, we will do what he wants. But I would be happy to play with him, we've already talked and hopefully we'll have that opportunity. It would be great“.
