Shelly-Anne Fraser-Pryce announced that she will end her competitive career after the world athletics championships in Tokyo next month, Reuters reported.
The three-time Olympic and 10-time world gold medalist announced that she will compete once again in 2025, saying that she had unfinished business after withdrawing from the 100 meters final at last year's Paris Olympics due to injury, BTA added.
"I didn't get the opportunity to do what I know I could do at that moment," she said. - And it was painful. It was the first time in my entire career that I didn't have the opportunity to step on the track to compete.“
Fraser-Pryce qualified for her ninth world championships, finishing third in the 100m at the Jamaican Games. She said the world championships, which begin on September 13, will be not only a farewell but also a test of her resilience.
"Standing on that starting line is a huge achievement. I really can't wait to celebrate the history, the dedication and the joy that this sport has given me,“ she said.
