Former European youth boxing champion Lovari Mikhailenko was shot dead in a private home in the Russian city of Omsk, TASS reported, citing the press service of the regional internal affairs department.
„The body of a 31-year-old resident of Omsk was found in a private home in the Leninsky district. It was previously established that the suspect had come to visit an acquaintance. A verbal conflict arose between them due to personal enmity, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the owner in the head, after which he fled in his personal car. Police officers detained him immediately the same day in the Novosibirsk region,” the statement said.
The department did not specify the name of the deceased, but law enforcement agencies told TASS that he was the European youth boxing champion Lovari Mikhailenko. The murder took place on September 10. An unregistered 1941 TT pistol and five cartridges were seized from the criminal. According to him, he bought the weapon illegally.
The press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation specified that a cartridge case, a bullet and other material evidence were found and seized at the crime scene. The detainee is charged with murder and a preventive measure in the form of detention in custody has been chosen.
Mikhailenko became the European youth boxing champion in the 68 kg category in 2008. In his last fight, he defeated Ukrainian Beyukshi Mamedov.
