To prepare your car for the summer season, it is most important to wash it thoroughly

After gradually sending the cold months in the rearview mirror, it is time to prepare our metal companions for the challenges of hot asphalt. Although modern cars are designed to cope with temperature amplitudes without dramatic interventions, the transition to the summer season requires a little attention to detail to save yourself headaches under the scorching sun.

The first and most important step is uncompromising hygiene. It is not just a matter of superficial rinsing of dust, but a massive attack on the remnants of winter. Aggressive road compounds and lye that hide in the most inaccessible corners of the passenger compartment are real poison for metal. Experts advise waiting for the spring rains to wash the chemicals off the roads and only then head to the car wash for a complete "disinfection" of the chassis and fenders.

Drainage holes and overflows are especially critical. In the fall and winter, they often become clogged with rotting leaves, mud, and dust, which turns the cavities in the doors and engine compartment into incubators for corrosion. A quick inspection and cleaning of these channels will ensure that the next summer storm will not end with a flooded interior or defective electronics. Don't forget the interior - the moisture that soaked into the floor mats and upholstery in January must be completely removed to avoid unpleasant odors and mold.

Spring is also the ideal time for cosmetic therapy. If winter's harsh weather has left its mark in the form of cracks in your windshield or unsightly scratches on your paintwork, now is the time to get rid of them. Sunlight and high temperatures can worsen these defects, so preventive maintenance is the wisest investment. After all, a technically sound and visually refreshed car not only brings pleasure, but also guarantees trouble-free trips to the seaside.
