The service is offered by Uber

Chinese autonomous driving technology company WeRide and American transportation giant Uber Technologies have expanded their partnership to offer robo-taxi services in 15 cities around the world.

WeRide announced today that it will expand its strategic partnership with Uber over the next five years, introducing robo-taxi services to 15 new cities around the world, including Europe and the Middle East.

After launching a driverless robotaxi service in Abu Dhabi and soon in Dubai, the two companies have pledged to expand their robotaxi partnership to several new cities each year outside the US and China.

In these cities, the WeRide robotaxi service will be offered through the Uber app, with Uber taking care of fleet operations. Founded in 2017, WeRide is one of the first companies in China to focus on smart driving solutions. On October 25 last year, the company went public on the Nasdaq exchange.

WeRide is currently developing, testing and operating autonomous vehicles in 30 cities in 10 countries around the world. According to the company, it is the only company in the world that has licenses to conduct autonomous driving tests simultaneously in five countries - China, the UAE, Singapore, France and the United States.
