BMW reveals details of the revolutionary new M3

There will be two versions - electric and petrol

BMW is preparing to take a decisive step towards the future of motorsport by presenting a new generation of the iconic M3 model, which for the first time in history will receive not only a classic petrol engine, but also a fully electric version. This is not just an expansion of the line, but an attempt to combine a heritage of power and sound with the latest technology and environmental responsibility.

As confirmed by the head of BMW Neue Klasse Mike Reichelt, the new generation M3 will receive the most advanced electronic control platform called “Heart of Joy“. It is she, according to him, who will become the heart of the new M3 and will provide unsurpassed dynamics, precision steering responses and an overall driving sensation that meets the highest standards of the M line. This system will combine optimized control of the powertrain, chassis, suspension and other critical components, allowing both the electric and gasoline versions to demonstrate equally impressive performance.

BMW has also purposefully designed both versions of the new M3 with as similar a design as possible. This decision was made to avoid a technological or emotional gap between the two types of drive. In other words, regardless of whether the buyer chooses the internal combustion engine version or the all-electric version, they will receive an identical basic architecture, with the same weight balance, layout, geometry and dynamics.

This approach also demonstrates BMW's intention to preserve the unique sporting DNA of the M series even in the era of electrification, without sacrificing the iconic character of the M3. Thus, the Bavarians are betting not only on the future, but also on the continuity of traditions, trying to unite fans of both classic gasoline engines with their characteristic sound and vibrations, and supporters of quiet, but no less explosive electric movement.

The Neue Klasse line itself, within the framework of which the new M3 debuts, symbolizes a radical renewal of the BMW model range. The first production cars of this series are expected to be released in 2025. In particular, the series production of electric models on this platform will be focused on the new BMW plant in Debrecen (Hungary), which is being built specifically for this purpose. It is there that the Germans promise to introduce innovative technologies, including a new generation of cylindrical batteries with improved energy density and increased range.

The new era for the BMW M3 begins with the realization of the need to combine sustainability with uncompromising dynamics. According to Reichelt, it is important for the company that the customer, sitting behind the wheel of the electric M3, experiences the same emotion as with the gasoline version - traction, reactivity, precision, the temptation of every turn and instant reaction to every movement of the steering wheel. If German engineers manage to realize this ambitious plan, the new generation M3 could become the first true electric sports car that does not yield to the classic models in terms of feel, but at the same time opens the way to the future without compromise.

BMW has not yet revealed the exact specifications of the new versions of the M3, but the electric version is expected to receive at least four motors with individual torque control at each wheel, which will allow for exceptional levels of traction and maneuverability. At the same time, the petrol version will probably remain faithful to the classic six-cylinder turbo engine that has already proven itself in previous generations.

Thus, the new generation of the BMW M3 has every chance of becoming a true symbol of the union of the traditional and the new, the loud and the quiet, the petrol and the electric - without losing a single element of the emotionality that has made this model a legend in the world of sports cars for decades.
