The signs are that there is some discord in the European countries that are members of NATO, including Bulgaria, and the United States is visible. And especially when the US president is Donald Trump. There were such things during his first term. Even then, he announced immediately after taking office that America would not pay for the security and defense of its allies and that Europeans must increase their own defense spending. This was announced to Lili Marinkova in the studio “FACT“ and the show “Conversation” by General Dimitar Shivikov.
“The same thing happened when his second term began a year ago. Then the European countries – NATO members have taken decisions to increase their spending to 5%. Including Bulgaria, which has declared that by 2030 the defense percentage will reach 5% of GDP“, said the guest.
“Countries like Germany and Poland have drastically increased their defense budgets, the Baltic countries too. Each country is taking its own steps, but the general line is that spending will be increased by 2030. This is very important because European leaders – I am talking about leaders from France, from Germany, including the Prime Minister of Great Britain – are leading a course of militarization of Europe. They have given themselves a horizon until 2030 that Europe must be ready to wage war with Russia. They are preparing the population of the countries, talking as if war is inevitable, and this is not the case“, General Shivikov also shared.
“My opinion is fundamentally different. The claim that Putin will not stop at Ukraine and that the next step will be the countries of Eastern Europe is pure propaganda. This is simply convenient propaganda that supports precisely this militaristic course, because the society in European countries must be prepared for it“, commented General Shivikov.
