Does the electricity meter adequately report increased consumption if the voltage is reduced and it is not 230 volts, but for example 180, she asks

The problem with increased electricity bills is a big scourge for people. I have posted a complaint form on my Facebook page and I think thousands of Bulgarians have taken advantage of this help and filed complaints. We are simply proposing a way for people to object. Our appeals on social networks have reached 2.5 million people. We have 1 million and 450 thousand reads on one post. At one point, 2,500 complaints were filed with us, and the complaints are much more. In addition, some people file them with the ERPs and the KEVR, because not everyone has an electronic signature. This is also a form of civil pressure on the regulator and on energy companies. We have cases where bills are 30-50% higher. There are even more striking cases. This was announced to Lili Marinkova in the studio “FACTI“ and the show “Razgovor“ by Maya Manolova, leader of “Stand Up BG“.

“In February 2026, there will be even higher bills. And let them not explain to us that we sat at home during the holidays and the winter is cold. There are also discrepancies in what is said and what is actually happening. The Minister of Energy Traykov says that people will be compensated. But this is written in the law – why is he telling us this? And he explains to us about a bug in the software. Let the companies say – is there a problem“, added Manolova.

“We have a huge series of bills from companies that show that the charges in the reports, in the invoices, are inexplicably high. We are talking about the charges in the invoices. It would be good for EWRC to check some of the signals – whether, if the voltage is reduced and it is not 230 volts, but for example 180, the electricity meter reports an adequately increased consumption. When supplying electricity with a lower voltage, doesn't this lead to greater consumption? There are many experts who can do this“, said Maya Manolova.
