President Yotova's surprise about the agreement with Ukraine is ridiculous. When you appoint such a government, you cannot then pretend to be surprised by its actions. The people inside are not random and it should be clear what can be expected of them. Yotova, if she has political experience - and she has been in the presidency for 10 years - should foresee the consequences. Otherwise, it looks like an attempt to save face, but not particularly skillfully. This was announced to Lili Marinkova in the studio “FACT“ and the show “Conversation“ by Prof. Georgi Chankov, a lecturer at the UNWE.
“It is not serious for Yotova to claim that it is not known what this cabinet will do. When you appoint such people, you should also expect nonsense - the question is what kind. In this case, in the absence of a full mandate and clearly defined powers, an agreement is signed that binds Bulgaria to Ukraine and draws it deeper into a war that Bulgarian society does not perceive as its own“, added the guest.
“This agreement with Ukraine creates a broad framework for future commitments that subsequent governments may have to fulfill. At the same time, financial assistance is being provided to Ukraine without an adopted budget and without clear parameters, which does not provide the necessary transparency. We see exotic solutions that rather create a feeling of serving external interests. There may be individual positive elements related to support for Ukrainian children in our country, but in general, such actions only increase public tension. The truth is that Bulgarian society does not perceive this war as its own“, said Prof. Chankov.
