Israel has no better ally than the United States, said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
During a joint press conference with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Netanyahu stressed his commitment to the return of all hostages and the defeat of "Hamas". He also thanked US President Donald Trump and his administration for their support, calling him "the greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House".
He said Rubio's visit demonstrated a "strong bond" between the two countries.
Marco Rubio met with the Israeli prime minister in Jerusalem, with the fallout from Israel's strike in Doha among the main topics of conversation between the two.
Last week's strike against Hamas leaders in the territory of close US ally Qatar sparked international outrage and was criticized by President Donald Trump.
Rubio had earlier said: "Obviously we are not happy with this. The president was not happy. Now we have to move on and figure out what happens next.".
The conversation took place at a time when Arab leaders are holding a summit in support of Qatar. The country's prime minister called on the international community to stop applying "double standards" and punish Israel.
