The Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine (GUR) has carried out a large-scale attack against the servers of the Central Election Commission of Russia, Ukrainian media reported, including "Interfax-Ukraine" and "RBK-Ukraine", citing their sources.

According to intelligence data, the goal was to prevent the conduct of the online elections that took place over the weekend, including in the territories of Ukraine occupied by Russia. According to the information, the attacks were directed against the CEC servers, the remote electronic voting platform, the "Gosuslugi" portal, as well as against "Rostelecom" backbone routers.

Roskomnadzor reported that on September 14, 181 DDoS attacks were registered against the CEC resources and the remote voting system. The agency also confirmed a temporary failure in the work of a "Rostelecom" backbone router.

CEC Chairwoman Ella Pamfilova said that the attacks did not affect electronic voting and the final entry of results. "Attacks on CEC resources continued throughout the day, there were temporary difficulties, but everything related to remote voting and the results was functioning and was entered in a timely manner," RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.

The single day of voting in Russia was held from September 12 to 14. Governor elections were held in 20 regions, with all incumbents retaining their positions.
