The Israeli army struck the Yemeni port of Hodeidah on the Red Sea, Reuters reported, citing the Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah TV, BTA reports.

A few hours earlier, Israel recommended that residents in the port area evacuate.

Yemeni Houthi rebels control the most populated parts of Yemen and attack ships in the Red Sea, saying they are doing this in solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. They also fired rockets at Israel, most of which were intercepted.

Israeli forces responded with strikes on Houthi-controlled territory, including the strategic city of Hodeidah.
