About 200 supporters of the former Romanian presidential candidate Calin Georgescu gathered in front of the headquarters of the Ilfov County Police Inspectorate, where he appeared for judicial control, reports Digi24. “Freedom“ and “Georgescu, President“ the crowd chanted.

The mobilization was announced and encouraged a day earlier by the leader of the far-right nationalist party Alliance for the Unification of Romanians Gheorghe Simion. He called on supporters of “sovereignty“ to come and publicly support Georgescu.

Some of the demonstrators today showed aggression and tried to break through the cordon of gendarmes, but law enforcement officials intervened and fined the violators.

As he left the building, Calin Georgescu himself made a statement regarding the case in which he is accused of complicity in a coup attempt.

“The case itself is a copy of the 2016 case against President Trump, with the same charges, only the actors have changed. And as the truth was proven in the Trump case, so it will be proven here. A country survives thanks to the brave and fades thanks to the cowards who sell themselves as Judas“, he commented.

Calin Georgescu described the murdered conservative activist Charlie Kirk as “a hero of the whole world“ and “a martyr executed as a result of “the actions of the globalist-Sorosist oligarchy“.

“For now, in Romania, the globalist-Sorosist oligarchy is resorting to justice, which it instrumentalizes like a bullet, with the aim of my removal. Why is my removal desired? First, because I want the happiness, prosperity and dignity of my people, and they know that I want and can do it. Second, because I want Romania to become what it deserves, namely the revolving platform of Europe, the center of decisions, and not the periphery of servants. Third, because I want to pull Romania out of the economic misery into which it was brought by this globalist-Sorosist oligarchy together with their servants in Bucharest. Number four, because I want a moral reform of the Romanian nation and I want the two Romanias, inside and outside the border, to become one,” said the former presidential candidate.

On Tuesday, the Prosecutor General’s Office charged Calin Georgescu with complicity in an attempt to commit acts against the constitutional order. A total of 22 people were charged in the same case, including Horacio Potra – a former member of the French Foreign Legion.
