Kristalina Georgieva has proposed Scott Besant's chief of staff as her first deputy

Daniel Katz will replace Gita Gopinath, who resigned last month

International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva has proposed that the Fund's executive board approve Daniel Katz as her first deputy, the IMF reported, quoted by BNR.

Katz is currently the chief of staff to United States Treasury Secretary Scott Besant. He participated in the development of the Donald Trump administration's economic partnership with Ukraine and plays a central role in trade negotiations, including with China.

Katz will replace Gita Gopinath, an American economist of Indian origin, who resigned last month to return to her teaching job at Harvard University.
