Berlin authorities plan to defuse two World War II bombs today, forcing the evacuation of thousands of people in the German capital, DPA reported, BTA reported.
One bomb is near a popular tourist area in the city center, where police ordered the evacuation of about 10,000 people. The other bomb is in the western part of the capital, and about 12,400 people were ordered to evacuate because of it.
Law enforcement said the evacuations did not affect medical facilities. However, the cordoned off areas include embassies and administrative buildings.
Roads have been closed and one subway line has been temporarily suspended. Temporary shelters have been provided for people who cannot stay with friends or relatives.
