Heavy losses for the Russian army! Ukrainians launched a powerful counteroffensive near Pokrovsk and Dobropilya

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have launched a counteroffensive in the Donetsk region, in particular in the Pokrovsk and Dobropilya area. In this area, Ukrainian troops have liberated seven settlements, and nine more have been "cleared" by Russian troops, writes Channel 24.

In addition, the defense forces of Ukraine inflicted significant losses on the personnel of the Russian army.

"Since the beginning of the counter-offensive in the Pokrovsk region, the losses of the Russian troops have reached over 2,500 people, of whom over 1,300 are irretrievably lost", the publication states.

Why did the Dobropolsky region become a trap for the Russians?

The spokesman for the "Dnipro" OSUV; Alexey Belsky emphasizes that he does not separate the region from the entire defense of the Pokrovsko-Marinograd agglomeration. They are conditionally separated because Pokrovsk and Mirnograd are defended by the 7th Rapid Reaction Corps of the Airborne Assault Troops, and "Azov" operates in Dobropolsky. In fact, in general, this is the defense of the Pokrovsko-Mirnograd agglomeration.

"The Dobropol region, which the Russians broke through from the south, has really become a trap for them. I have already repeatedly stated that our forces are trying to tear this salient apart. In general, this is happening", notes Belsky.

"In the upper part of this salient - Kucharov Yar - fierce fighting is taking place. The Russians could have retreated from there, but they did not want to. More precisely, they were ordered to stay until death. In the Kucharov Yar area, the enemy is in the worst position. There they are being transferred reinforcements, replenished with ammunition and food using drones. Drones are arriving, for example, "Molniya", which drop black packages".

"Also, in the area of Nikonorovka and Mayak, the 225th separate assault regiment recently liberated Pankivka and is now trying to cut off logistics. That is, a second "cauldron" is possible – it is most difficult there".

But let's not rush and not make plans. Our people there are in a very difficult situation, adds the spokesman for the "Dnipro" OSUV.

According to him, the defense forces are being harassed by Russian unmanned aerial vehicles. Leading Russian units, for example, "Rubikon" are operating in the area of Dobropilya and Pokrovska – center for promising unmanned technologies, created in 2024.

What problems do the Russians have near Pokrovsk and Dobropilya?

The chairman of the Ukrainian Center for Security and Cooperation, Serhiy Kuzan, noted that "one of the largest counterattack operations of the last year is currently being conducted in the Dobropilya region".

"The planned operation, which has been going on for two months, does not allow the units of the Russian troops to unblock their "colleagues", who are under threat of encirclement".

"Of course, we will not see results in the coming days, but still in the coming weeks or maybe even months serious problems will arise for the Russian troops. The enemy is forced to transfer its best assault units from the Sumy region in this direction in order to correct the critical situation in which it found itself".
