Trump picks a new beauty, nominating Lindsay Halligan as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia

The lady is a senior White House advisor

US President Donald Trump announced that he will nominate White House senior advisor Lindsay Halligan for the position of U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, ABC News reported, quoted by BTA.

Until now, this position was held by Eric Siebert, who resigned on Friday.

Halligan was for some time among Trump's defenders in the case on charges of illegally possessing classified documents.

Trump announced her nomination on social media, noting that the Eastern District of Virginia Attorney's Office needs a "tough prosecutor" who can "move things".

A number of American media outlets have spread information that Siebert was pressured by the Trump administration to file a criminal case against New York Attorney General Letitia James, a longtime Trump opponent who is being investigated for mortgage fraud.

Trump denied these allegations, emphasizing that he personally fired Siebert.
