British analyst: Zelensky will try to convince Trump in New York to financially support a new Ukrainian offensive

This should happen in a personal meeting during the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, Alexander Mercuris believes

Volodymyr Zelensky will try to convince US President Donald Trump to financially support a new Ukrainian offensive during bilateral talks in New York, British geopolitical analyst Alexander Mercuris said on his YouTube channel.

„He could try to negotiate a peace agreement, but knowing Zelensky, it will be exactly the opposite. He will probably ask for support for new counterattacks and will ask for money to create new reserves“, the expert said.

According to the analyst, the situation on the front for the Ukrainian side is worsening every day, and Trump's unstable position complicates European support and threatens to lead to critical and unpopular decisions.

“He rightly warned his deputies in Kiev that difficult times may come on the battlefield. The situation is getting worse and worse, and critical decisions will soon have to be made“, Mercuris explained.

According to the analyst, Zelensky should discuss with Trump not further financing of the Ukrainian armed forces, but a quick peaceful resolution of the conflict.

Yesterday “The Wall Street Journal“ reported that the White House is working to schedule talks between Trump and Zelensky, who will arrive in New York to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The anniversary session of the United Nations General Assembly opened on September 9.

It will traditionally include a high-level week. The general debates will be held from September 23 to 27 and again on September 29.
