We are part of the coalition for the return of children to Ukraine. This is not part of the negotiation process, this is a condition that must be met in order for the actual peace negotiations to begin. This was stated by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov to journalists in New York, quoted by the press center of the Council of Ministers. The Prime Minister emphasized that Bulgaria's position on the subject is unchanged, clear and categorical - children from the territories occupied by the Russian Federation in Ukraine, who pass through the so-called filtration camps, must be immediately returned to their native places.

When asked by the media about the mobilization of a Bulgarian citizen on the territory of Ukraine, Minister Georg Georgiev indicated that the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry is aware of the case and is in contact with the boy's relatives. It is important to specify that he has dual citizenship - and Ukrainian, said Georgiev and added that being on the territory of Ukraine, obligations towards him also begin to apply there, including with regard to mobilization. Whatever is possible to protect his rights will be done, the Minister of Foreign Affairs was categorical.

Asked about President Radev's appeal on the issue, Minister Georg Georgiev noted that populism and politicking in such situations are unnecessary. Whenever the Bulgarian state has worked, it has done so with a view to a positive result, and not to extracting a dubious public dividend, Minister Georgiev said.
